Community

What is true community?

I would love to hear what many of you think on that.  Please reply with your thoughts.

I think it boils down to experiencing life with those around us, barrier free.

I would agree with Bekah Jo. A community would be any situation, lifestyle or subculture where people are "living life together."

I'd love Bekah Jo to expound of the barrier free part.

I think she might be speaking about loving and accepting people without precondition or feeling free and open to be yourself and thus living a more authentic life together - something the Christian community could take a page from.

I imagine community as one great river. Or a great body of water like the oceans of all the world. They are linked to every water source in the world through rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, rain, and any form of precipitation. One river has an effect on the entire water source of the planet. It's all a community. We are all in a community if it be family, local, government, church, or global. We are all connected and the depth of the relationships we build in the community we most associate with is determined by our choices. If we don't value the community we are in we become hard like ice, like the glaciers. And if we open up we turn to vapor and have an effect on the atmosphere of community. Community is a fluid dynamic.
